Report on Guest Talk: “Corporatization of Agriculture” Date: 5th October Venue: Seminar Hall Guest Speaker: Dr. Bidur Paria “Corporatization of Agriculture” was delivered by Dr. Bidur Paria, Assistant Professor, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar School of Economics, Bangalore who has done his doctorate in Agricultural economics. The event was attended by students of MBA The session highlighted the growing trend of **Corporatization in Agriculture**, where through Cooperative production in agriculture where farmers, typically small to medium-sized, come together to pool their resources, efforts, and production processes to achieve common economic goals. Agricultural cooperatives are formed to improve the efficiency, profitability, and sustainability of farming operations by combining resources, sharing costs, and increasing collective bargaining power. This model plays a critical role in empowering farmers, enhancing productivity, and addressing challenges faced by individual farmers. The speaker shared insights on how Innovations in mechanization, biotechnology, and precision farming have enabled large corporations to scale agricultural operations efficiently. In conclusion, Dr. Bidur Paria emphasized that while the corporatization of agriculture presents both opportunities and challenges, it is essential to strike a balance between large-scale efficiency and the protection of small farmers and the environment. He emphasised on the role of policymakers, farmers, and corporations to work together in creating a more equitable and sustainable agricultural future.
